Personalized Training for your Dog

Private classes: Sessions are held at your house to ensure a relaxed environment. Each session is tailored to address your pups behavioral problems or teach any commands you want your pup to learn. The cost for a half hour session is $65, or $120 for an hour session. Discounts for multiple sessions are available.

Canine Good Citizen Testing: As a CGC evaluator, I can prepare your pup and administer testing. The CGC is wonderful for home insurance purposes, renting and is the first step to becoming a therapy dog. Sessions are $200 for 4 sessions and includes testing. Testing alone is $40.

Meet the Trainer: Tara Altgilbers

Mission Statement: I strive to get the best out of every dog, while being as accommodating as possible. My training methods are based upon positive reinforcement. Currently, I am working with individuals in Essex County. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I hope I will have the pleasure of meeting you soon!

Biography: My passion for animals has been evident throughout my entire life. Anyone who has grown up with pets knows that there is a strong bond of unconditional love that forms. I have had many different species of pets that I loved and cared for. Between graduating with a B.S. in Animal Science, working as a dog trainer, veterinary technician, and teaching Animal Science, I have more than 19 years experience with working with animals, not including my own pets. I strongly believe there are so many benefits to dog training. Training strengthens the bond between family members, reduces problem behaviors, teaches life saving commands and has been proven to make dogs more confident, happier, and healthier. Currently, my family consists of myself, my husband Ian, my 4-year-old daughter, Aubrey and my four Nigerian Dwarf goats, Pippy, Petunia, Pepper and Petal. My favorite pastime includes going on hikes and snuggling in the house with the goats who are potty trained!
